Internet Protocol (H.450) A-11
Appendix A: Networking Services
SBX IP Programming & Operations Guide
Identification Service
Between networking systems, a station name can be transmitted to (and displayed on)
destination stations via the Identification Service feature.
There are two types of Identification Services available:
Calling Name Identification Presentation (CNIP) - the name of a station is transmitted
to/displayed on the destination when an outgoing call to a station in another network is
made.
Connected Name Identification Presentation (CONP) - the name of a destination station in
another network is transmitted to/displayed on the calling station when an incoming call is
answered.
EXAMPLE: If Station 4150 in Quebec, calls Station 1245 (that is networked to the Quebec
location via SBX IP 320) in Texas, each station can see the station name of the other
if the Identification Service is set up to allow for the transmission of the information.
ADMIN PROGRAMMING
Enable Networking CNIP and CONP Enable
Use PGM 320 … see page A-22.
OPERATION / SETUP
CNIP and CONP operation is executed whenever the station of networking system makes
a call and it answers the incoming call.
Also see page 1-81 for information about Programming a Station Name.
Network Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
A station can leave a MWI message when a station in another networked system does not
answer. The MWI LED flashes on the called station to signify that a message has been left.
CONDITIONS
The MWI feature is available on stations with a display.
When the System makes a Call Back according to MWI data, the CO line is automatically
selected within the network CO group.
The Message Waiting Indication (MWI) is the same service as the CLI Message Wait
feature (see page 1-141).
Also see:
- "Message Wait and Call Back" on page 1-66.
- "Message Wait Indicator LEDs" on page 1-67.
- "Message Wait Indicator (MWI) - SLT Feature" on page 1-70.
